Placer Prefabs

Placer prefabs are special prefabs that contain multiple prefabs, usually of the same model with different visuals (color, amount of dirt or damage, and so on). To use a placer:

  1. In Viewport, enable simulation:

  2. In Outliner, right-click the scene_art section and click Create:

  3. Find auto_car_pick_up_destroed_01_placer_prefab (or any other prefab placer) and click it:

  4. Select auto_car_pick_up_destroed_01_placer_prefab in Outliner. In Tool Shelf, open the Prefabs Placer tab and set up the placer parameters:

    • Random Instance — if selected, a random prefab will be chosen when adding an a new object to the scene with Prefab Placer.
    • Trasform — determines how each new object will be transformed:
      • Initial — transform parameters will be reset to default with each new object.
      • Latest — the next object will have the same transform parameters as the previous one.
      • Randomize — the transform parameters will be randomized in the specified ranges.
        • Scale Range — the scale range (1 — the original size).
        • Rotation Range X/Y/Z — the rotation ranges.
  5. If you did not enable Random Instance, select a prefab from the list of placer prefabs by clicking Prev/Next or pressing Z/X:

  6. Click in Viewport to place a new prefab (as with normal objects). In Outliner, prefabs from the placer will be grouped together:

  7. Use Physics Placer on the new objects, otherwise they might unexpectedly move during the game.
