Tool Shelf

Tool Shelf is a panel that gives access to various useful tools. The Tool Shelf displays only panels relevant to the object currently selected in Viewport/Outliner:

Object Editor

The tab is active when any object is selected.

Allows performing common operations on objects (operations that are not limited to a specific object type).

Mesh Editor

The tab is active when a mesh is selected.

Allows performing operations on meshes: changing the mesh geometry and switching between editing vertices, faces, and edges of the mesh.

Geometry Overrides

The tab is active when an object with skinned geometry is selected.

Allows customizing bone transforms.

Terrain Editor

The tab is active when a terrain prefab is selected.

Allows editing the landscape with brushes and customizing rendering.

Distribution Editor

The tab is active when a distribution_fixed or distribution_scatter prefab is selected.

Allows working with distributions: adding, removing, moving, and resizing assemblies. This tool is suitable for arranging simple static geometry, such as scattered garbage.

Prefabs Placer

The tab is active when prefab placer is selected.

Allows stamping decals and other objects on any surface with randomized parameters.

Spline Editor

The tab is active when an overlay, terrain_spline or spline3d prefab is selected.

Allows working with curves: adding, moving, and deleting points.

Overlay Editor

This tab is active when an overlay or overlay_segment prefab is selected.

Allows adjusting the area around each overlay point: its transparency, effect on the heightmap, and width.

Physics Placer

Physics Placer is a tool in the Object Editor tab of Tool Shelf. Physics Placer works with physical objects and static objects that are transformed to dynamic objects (for example, destructible fences): the tool fixes the placing of these objects so they do not move unexpectedly.

There are two ways to use the tool:

  • Place All Physical Objects --- Physics Placer will iterate over all physical objects on the scene. Some objects might be placed incorrectly so every object needs to be checked manually.
  • Place Objects In Sphere --- (recommended) Physics Placer will will iterate over the objects located in the sphere.

    • Preview Sphere --- changes the visuals of the sphere in Editor: not displayed (None), only the structure of the sphere is displayed (Wireframe), the structure and the sides of the sphere are displayed (Fill).

    • Sphere Radius --- the radius of the sphere.
